Movie and music for the whole family! See the award-winning animated movie and hear the fantastic music
live. Uppsala Chamber Orchestra once again presents the mysterious, exciting and humorous
story. “Peter and the Wolf” is originally a folk tale that inspired Sergei Prokofiev to
the orchestral piece Peter and the Wolf.

Uppsala Chamber Orchestra is conducted by Eva Lauenstein and together with the animated movie
it becomes a unique and exciting experience that touches. Welcome to a concert that has been appreciated by
many, both children and adults!

With animals as friends

Peter lives in poverty with his overprotective grandfather. Ostracized and bullied by the local children, his
friends are a bird, a cat, and a slightly wobbly duck, who live on the farm. On a beautiful spring day, Peter
takes his friends to the tempting but dangerous forest outside where the wolf lurks. Despite threats and
difficulties, Peter shows courage, and the story has an unexpected ending.

Oscar-winning movie

In the story, the characters are portrayed musically by various instruments. The animated film, directed
by Suzie Templeton, is based on Prokofiev’s music. The film has won
many prestigious film awards and in 2008 it won an Oscar.

Musical themes

In the story, the characters are portrayed musically by different instruments. Instruments that portray a
character with a specific leitmotif are horn (the wolf), clarinet (the cat), flute (the bird), oboe (the goose),
bassoon (grandfather) and violins (Peter). On location before the film starts, the orchestra does a short
instrument demonstration and goes through the different characters and gets to hear a small part of the different
leitmotifs in the film.

Uppsala Chamber Orchestra

With a stylistic breadth ranging from grand symphonies to more intimate chamber music works, the
Uppsala Chamber Orchestra has performed live music for the county’s residents for over 50 years. The orchestra, of
many ansedd som en av Sveriges främsta, består av professionella musiker och har en omvittnad
varm och stor orkesterklang. Sedan 2007 ar hemmascenen Uppsala Konsert & Kongress, där man
även har familjekonserter och bjuder in skolklasser för studiebesök. De senaste åren har orkestern
gjort uppskattade gästspel i Estland, i konserthusen i Göteborg, Vara och Norrköping samt Artipelag
på Värmdö. Uppsala Kammarorkester ar en del av stiftelsen Musik i Uppland, en regional
musikorganisation i Uppsala med Region Uppsala som huvudman.
