Concert introduction at 18:20–18:40
Tobias Ringborg returns to conduct the Uppsala Chamber Orchestra once again. The evening begins with one of Britta Byström’s many walks and musical conversations. What could be more fitting than “A Walk to Brahms Violin Concerto”? Brahms’ magnificent violin concerto, composed in 1878, is today one of the most performed
and beloved violin concertos.
Johan Dalene, who has previously captivated the Uppsala audience, plays the challenging and outstanding solo part. The 25-year-old world star has already made a significant impact on international stages, acclaimed and awarded both in Sweden and abroad.
Mozart’s last symphony is number 41, a powerful farewell piece by the composer who passed away in 1791. It was in London about 20 years after his death that the symphony was named Jupiter, the protector of the heavens in Roman mythology. The audience of the time perceived the first movement’s trumpets and timpani as symbols of divinity.
